Moving Media Basel AG specializes in Out-of-Home advertising on trams, buses and stations in the Swiss city of Basel. ADvendio outperformed their previous software and is flexible enough to open new possibilities for ad delivery.
Moving Media is a new company, combining several local agencies that were advertising on public transport. Formed in April 2016 it has to contend with a wide variety of advertising in different formats and various types of vehicle.
The Challenge: Replacing Outdated Software
Moving Media’s former incarnations were using SAP. It was too inflexible to cope with new formats like digital screen advertising on buses. Managing Director Hans-Georg Bell searched the internet for replacement software, but only ADvendio seemed to fit their needs, and furthermore was based on Salesforce, which he already was an expert in using.
ADvendio Needs to be Highly Flexible to Cope with Different Vehicles and Ad Formats
The Moving Media team found ADvendio was highly flexible – it needs to be – as there are 10-15 assorted types of vehicles, as well as many different formats on both the inside and outside of the carriages. Hans-Georg says, “We found ADvendio was flexible enough to cope with everything, including new formats.” Funnily enough, ads designed for websites like “banners” and “skyscrapers” work perfectly well on buses and trams!
Moving Media has complex requirements: the fleet is 400 strong and each has multiple advertisements. The customized booking calendar was created by ADvendio and Moving Media together, uniquely for public transport advertising – the complexities of the medium require a perfect calendar. That was not possible with SAP.
One factor that makes Moving Media stand out in Basel is that it can bring advertising into the classic “Old City”. Billboards and other intrusive media are banned, but there is a huge audience of locals and tourists to capture.
Hans-Georg praises the partnership with ADvendio and the consistent support he has received from the ADvendio team, by customizing the application to meet Moving Media’s particular requirements.
The Results: One Integrated Solution to Maximise Sales Efficiency
They have one integrated solution including quoting, billing, CRM, reporting and use the Salesforce Chatter communication platform as well.
Moving Media have fully migrated all their data, contacts, etc., to ADvendio and have switched off SAP. ADvendio is very cost-effective. In 2017 and beyond they will be growing the core business and utilizing the new possibilities ADvendio has opened up for them.
Hans-Georg says, “When I found ADvendio, I was very happy. We were finally able to administer our complex business end-to-end. It means our sales team can concentrate on our core business activities, while ADvendio works in the background.”
